he golf bug is alive and well and flourishing way beyond America’s borders. Morocco's late King Hassan II had it bad. So much so that the Royal Dar Es Salam Golf Club was created in Casablanca to address his jones.
If golf is your thing - or if it's history that moves you - we've got a cruise for you. Join R. Crusoe & Son on the intimate, 34-passenger Callisto, a small cruise ship operated by our partner, Travel Dynamics International. Imagine 10 days on the links and among treasures of the past as we meander through Spain and Morocco.
Begin in Malaga, Spain's gateway to the Costa del Sol. Golfers, man your clubs and head for Las Brisas, a Trent Jones masterpiece near Marbella. Others of us take in Granada, home of the 13th-century Alhambra, exquisite Moorish jewel.
In Gibraltar, play Sotogrande and then Valderrama, both among Europe's top courses. Non-golfers come explore Gibraltar, one of Britain's last colonies and a major player in the region's past. Explore the sugar-cube architecture that lines the narrow streets of the Andalusian town of Casares.
On to Morocco via the city of Tangier. Golfers feel like royalty at Dar Es Salam Golf Club. So do those of us who visit the Kasbah of the Oudayas, once a sultan's residence and today a gorgeous museum.
Marrakech is one of our favorite North African cities. It's sheer magic, from Koutoubia Mosque to the Mellah, its old Jewish quarter..
In Jadida, Golfers play the Royal Course while others tour this old Portuguese town, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Disembark Callisto in Casablanca, then head home. Or continue on in Morocco, if you choose. R. Crusoe can tailor-make an extension to other outstanding destinations in this wondrous nation.
Classic Antiquity & Classic Golf in Spain & Morocco. 10 Days.
