ou will find it as awesome
as Dr. Livingstone, we presume, first did in 1855. The icing
on the cake? All our safari camps and hotels are Orient Express
properties, so you can imagine the level of luxury at each.
Arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa, for a look at Pretoria,
should you choose. Then to the Okavango Delta, Botswana, where
the unexpected four-legged visitor is most expected. You'll
not soon forget your first mokoro ride.
On to Moremi Wildlife Reserve, 3,000 square miles of the Okavango
Delta. Habitats from woodland to savanna to lagoon support
a dizzying array of species. On game drives, go in search
of big cats, elephants, buffalo, and wild dogs. Bring extra
film. You'll need it. Khwai River Lodge, home base here, simply
cannot be topped. Aside from its perfect location at the edge
of a fig forest, there's also a pool, a gym, a spa, and plenty
of room to spend quality time with yourself.
Chobe National Park, next. Cape buffalo, hippo, warthog, antelope,
and a fantastical cast of birdlife abound. Not to mention
the elephants. (They're rather hard to miss.) Team Predator
is made up of lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, jackal, and
hyena. Look for these sly four-legged hunters in the marshlands,
along with migrating zebras (who are hoping not to run into
the former).
Nature at its most impressive combined with luxurious comfort,
or close enough to it, is the hallmark of R. Crusoe's Southern
Africa safari.
Our Southern Africa safari is designed with the sophisticated
traveler in mind —–
you.
Utterly Civilized Cape Town.
4 Days.
Consider a bit more time in the region, specifically
four days in Cape Town, South Africa. Historic as it is (think
St. George's Cathedral, the Malay Quarter, Milnerton Lighthouse,
Simon's Town), Cape Town also offers a burgeoning wine industry
(your taste buds will thank you) and Robben Island, where
Nelson Mandela lived as a prisoner for far too long. Home
for us is the landmark Mount Nelson Hotel, utter elegance
along with golf, tennis, and spa possibilities.
