lanet Earth is a hothouse of lifestyles, an incubator of varied ways of living that span generations and cross national borders and time zones. With our partner, Starquest Expeditions, come join R. Crusoe & Son for a look at the real rainbow that defines humankind around the globe.

If you're not familiar with the Samis of Norwegian Samiland, you soon will be. Their lives revolve around the reindeer in one of Europe's last frontiers. Experience joiking (you'll see) and get an earful of local mythology and ancestral history.

Ancient Armenia was the doorway through which Christianity entered Central Asia. See what remnants survived in Echmiadzin, Garni, and Yerevan.

Then to the homeland of Genghis Khan on the Eurasian Steppe, Mongolia. Visit a ger camp and learn about the takhi, the mighty Mongol horse that changed the course of Asian history.

China's Yunnan Province boasts 55 distinctly different ethnic minority peoples. Meet the Naxi in the lovely town of Lijiang, and enjoy a gorgeous walk around Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

To Australia and Papua New Guinea. Life hasn't much changed for aboriginal peoples who inhabit some of the most remote spots in each nation. Meet Aboriginal people in Port Douglas and explore the world's oldest rain forest at Daintree. Huli Wigmen and other tribespeople in Papua New Guinea give us a rare glimpse into life during the Stone Age.

"Meet" the Khmers of ancient Cambodia on a tour of Angkor and its magnificent temple complex. Architecture buffs, prepare yourselves. Opt for a visit to the rarely-visited Banteay Srei, the Citadel of Women.

To Bhutan, last independent kingdom in the Himalayas. Meet with the reincarnation of a revered figure in Bhutan's Buddhist past. Learn about dzongs and the monastic way of life, and consider a trek up to Tiger's Nest Monastery (altitude: 10,433 feet).

Onto the African continent for a tour of Lalibela, Ethiopia. What's here? Thirteen rock-hewn churches that date from the 12th century. Their origin is still something of a mystery. And to Mali, where Bamako's Dogon people tell us of their customs and ritualsand dance for us as by way of explanation. What more appropriate place to end the journey than in Timbuktu, legendary last stop on Earth, for an exploration of this outpost on the trans-Saharan caravan route?

Know your fellow man, woman, and child. It's high time you do.
