Back to the Yangtse River cruise: The Yangtse River is the real source of China’s cultural wealth. Here Kublai Khan led his navy to victory. From the Yangtse, 19th-century clippers sailed toward London laden with tea and mischief. Embark the Yangzi Explorer, your river cruiser, in Chonqing. This is among the newest and best ships to ply the river. Cruise the River, see the Three Gorges themselves, and get familiar with the goliath dam project that has changed everything. In a nutshell: Embark in Chonqing, cruise to Fengdu for a shore excursion, to the Three Gorges, take a sampan cruise along the Shennong Stream, to the Three Gorges Dam project, and disembark in Yichang.
