Aboard our favorite small ship, the Corinthian II, trace the southern tip of Africa in search of some of the most dramatic scenery on Earth. We follow the coasts of Namibia, South Africa, and Mozambique in the wake of 15th-century European explorers and 18th-century merchant vessels. What's here? Incredible natural landscapes and cities with colorful pasts. Come join us as we explore the Cape of Good Hope and beyond.
Namibia, South Africa, & Mozambique. Natural Treasures & Human Accomplishments. 15 Days.
Africa calling. We gather in Walvis Bay, Namibia, wonderfully situated to allow us to explore the entire region with ease. Here we embark our cruise ship, the Corinthian II. A small vessel that's part of the fleet operated by Travel Dynamics International, she accommodates just 114 guests (max) in 57 delightful suites. Each suite affords outside views and is appointed with a sitting room, a private bathroom, and more.
Walvis Bay Lagoon affords remarkable desertscapes, and Namib Desert Park, a natural wetlands environment, is one of Southern Africa’s best bird sanctuaries. Lüderitz and the nearby ghost town of Kolmanskop stand as reminders of an early-19th-century diamond rush.
A day at sea takes us to wonderful Cape Town, South Africa, where we spend a few days on guided tours of this cultural and natural cache. Among our destinations: the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden,
and the delightful Cape Wine Country.
Mossel Bay is our entryway to South Africa’s gorgeous Garden Route and the Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, a privately-owned wilderness with excellent animal viewing.
Port Elizabeth, just up the South African coast, gets us to Kariega Game Reserve, another private expanse full of lions, elephants, antelopes, rhinos, hippos, and other astounding creatures.
From Richard’s Bay, we enter Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, South Africa’s oldest national park and one of its absolute best.
Then into Mozambique, where we dock in the capital port city of Maputo. Enjoy the Mediterranean feel of the city streets, and visit the National Art Museum of Mozambique to see work by the nation’s most talented painters and sculptors. From Maputo, head home, or continue with us on a four-day post-cruise tour of Victoria Falls.
