Local Flavor
India. Birthplace of Krishna and Buddha. Jewel in the crown of a fading Britain. Home of the Taj Mahal, that perfect white palace. Spend even one day here and you are inexorably swept up in the glorious frenzy of a billion people driving rickshaws, hawking their wares, telling fortunes and charming snakes, singing and praying and bathing in the sacred Ganges. The streets positively vibrate.
India's Crown Jewels: Delhi, Varanasi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, & Udaipur. A Hosted Journey with Sanjay Chatterji. 17 Days.
In the delightful company of our host, Sanjay Chatterji, R. Crusoe & Son presents the 2013 hosted India journey. We limit the group size to a maximum of 18 travelers, ensuring an intimacy as we visit India’s most beloved cities and her most outstanding monuments. But remember that a small group size means the journey will book quickly, so don't wait to book. Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Get packing; we depart in late January 2013.

Begin in Old and New Delhi, a city full of history and an excellent place to begin our India explorations.
Then Varanasi, the spiritual heart of Hinduism in Mother India (Siddhartha beat us here by 2,500 years or so). The sacred River Ganges runs through the city.
In Sarnath, Buddha preached the way to nirvana. We follow, with enlightenment of our own.
Ancient Khajuraho is home to a unique collection of temples whose carvings would make the likes of Bob Guccione blush.Even today, scientists are unclear about much of their meaning
On to Orchha for a look at the stunning temple complex that dates from the 1500s.
Agra is the site of the fabled Taj Mahal, a love letter in white marble. No photograph does it justice. Nearby Fatehpur Sikri is a Mughal ghost town full of mystery.
In Ranthambore National Park, we safari to see rare royal Bengal tigers as well as other wild creatures that live here. Home is a resplendent tented camp.
To Jaipur, the pink city, and its Amber Fort. Take an elephant safari in Dera Amer, tucked into the picturesque Aravali foothills.
The 16th-century city of Udaipur wears her palaces like so many sparkling tiaras. A romantic setting, the city is known for its performing arts, painting, and crafts.
Ancient and sacred temples await in historic Eklingji and Nagda. Then home, with a first glimpse of India under your belt.
