Local Flavor

Johann Strauss chose three-four waltz time to set the Danube to music. He wanted to make the river and his music inseparable. And he succeeded.
The lilt of the beautiful Blue Danube waltz not only brings to mind elegant couples gliding across the ballrooms of European palaces, it also recalls the ebb and flow of a river that, if it could speak, would tell how it begins as a small stream in the Black Forest mountains and gathers the waters of more than 300 tributaries along its way.
It would tell how it grows into a mighty waterway through which its bordering nations’ cultures and influences flow. It would tell how it served as a Roman frontier and how it succeeded in barring the way of a host of invading armies. It would tell a story that only a river as old as time can tell.

Doing the Danube Aboard River Cloud II.
8 Days.

Inside the River Cloud IISome of the most commanding cities (and romantic villages) in Europe stand along the banks and tributaries of the Danube.

This is not an accident.

Nor is it an accident that the luxurious 1930s-style River Cloud II is the ship on which to ply the Danube.

Polished wood and marble cabins. A roomy sun deck. Spectacular dining room and lounge (great for sipping champagne or single-malt scotch while examining Europe from the inside out). A custom-built Steinway adds to the onboard soirees. River Cloud II.And top service by the crewmembers is impeccable and at the same time quiet and unobtrusive.

The River Cloud II makes her way between Vilshofen or Regensburg or Nuremberg (Germany), Passau, Melk and the wine-producing Wachau Valley, Krems an der Donau, Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. R. Crusoe offers cruises in both directions.

Excursions vary for the journeys; prices listed at left, however, apply to all River Cloud II Danube itineraries offered by R. Crusoe.

Happy cruising.

Please note: On these journeys, R. Crusoe & Son travelers share the River Cloud II with other, non-Crusoe travelers.

Some departures operate inthe reverse direction.
