Local Flavor

A yacht of your own through Alaska. Sound nice? R. Crusoe has fallen in love with American Safari Cruises’ exceptional fleet of yachts, and we want to give our travelers a heads-up about their availability.
Consider taking your very own small group on a customized cruise aboard on eof these yachts. Each is delightful, and each is tailor-made to travel the glorious Alaskan waters. You can charter one of these yachts, or reserve staterooms for you and yours.

Alaska's Glacier Country Aboard the Safari Explorer, the Safari Quest, or the Safari Endeavour. 8 Days.

Alaska: BearYes, the world is your oyster. But don't forget to explore your own country, too.

Alaska calling. On an adventure here, come and see for yourself the richness and beauty of our 49th state. R. Crusoe has found three ideal yachts on which to do that: the 36-passenger Safari Explorer; the 22-passenger Safari Quest; and the 86-passenger Safari Endeavour. All are marvelous vessels perfect for plying the waters around Alaska, and all are operated by our travel partner, American Safari Cruises.

The beauty of these vessels is their intimate passenger group size and the fact that they can anchor where no large ship can. They allow for somewhat flexible itineraries, depending on the passengers' desires and the captain's information (a humpback just around the next bend, a grizzly feeding on a nearby beach). Naturalists accompanies us along the way. So do talented kitchen crews. And, among other goodies, lots of premium wines and spirits and microbrews. Think of your ship as a movable resort.

Alaska: WhaleBegin in Juneau, Alaska's capital and accessible only by boat, ferry, or plane.

From there, spend two days in Glacier Bay National Park, where the wildlife is, well, everywhere. Wolves, eagles, moose, mountain goats, seabirds, humpbacks, and bears. Hidden coves, calving glaciers await. Paddle kayaks through calm waters, where the only traffic is the occasional puffin crossing the inlet. Whale-watch. Experience authentic Alaska.

Icy Strait, known for its humpback population, separates Chicagof Island from the Alaskan mainland. We anchor at Point Adolphus.Glacier Bay National Park. Alaska.

Next, Chicagof Island, whose waterfalls thrill. Watch for sea otters as we anchor off Baranof Island.

Cruise around the wilderness of Frederick Sound. Kayak and ride the skiffs through Saginaw Bay. Get up close to a sea lion colony that this area home.

If you are traveling aboard the Safari Endeavour, you also explore Thomas Bay, where some of Alaska's best hiking awaits. Walk the Cascade Creek Trail, explore Baird Glacier, kayak in Scenery Cove.

Cliff-walled fjords surround us as we cruise Ford's Terror. We hear the lore behind this interesting name. Endicott Arm is on our itinerary—one very spectacular fjord. Anchor in Taku Harbor, the perfect setting for our captain's farewell dinner.

Disembark in Juneau, and head home.

Some departures operate in the reverse direction.

Please note: On this journey, R. Crusoe & Son partners with American Safari Cruises.Unless you are chartering the yacht, you share the Safari Quest, the Safari Explorer, or the Safari Endeavour with other, non-Crusoe travelers.
