Gather in Thessaloniki, Greece, for a bit of time at an elegant beach resort. Loosen up your swing at Porto Carras Golf Club, or take in the history at Thessaloniki, founded by the king of Macedon in 315 B.C.

Fly to Athens to embark Callisto, and we're off to the Cyclades, Greece's most gorgeous islands. Santorini glistens white and black in the Mediterranean sun. This was a Minoan outpost until a volcanic eruption blew the stack off the island. Crete, our next port of call, was too. See remains of the Minoans at King Minos's palace in Knossos, or head for the Crete Golf Club, known as the best course in the nation

To the town of Rhodes, on the island of the same name. Sail through its harbor, made famous by the long-gone "Colossus of Rhodes," a gigantic statue that succumbed to the rumbles of an earthquake in 226 B.C.

Into Turkish waters. Kekova Bay contains the remains of an ancient city that also took a tumble into the sea. The ruins can be seen in the crystal clear waters just beyond the ship's rails.

Marvel at rock-hewn Roman tombs carved into cliffs in the Lycian city of Myra. St. Nicholas was a visitor here, as were a handful of Roman emperors and a caliph or two.

Golfers, man your clubs! There are sculpted fairways and challenging holes aplenty at the National Golf Club, designed by Ryder Cup player David Feherty, and at Cornelia Golf Resort near Antalya. Others of us explore Perge and Aspendos, among Turkey's most incredible ancient sites. In Antalya, see what remains of the Crusaders, the Seljuks, the Byzantines, and the Greeks.

Finally, farewell to Callisto. Time to go home, golf clubs, history lessons, and all.
