The more things change… Certainly true in Egypt, which has been cycling through rulers since the pharaohs of the First Dynasty (3100 B.C.). Keep an eye on current events, then get over there for a visit. There’s Cairo, of course, and Memphis and Giza for the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. Luxor (ancient Thebes) is a treasure chest of antiquities, and on a float along the Nile you can spend time there as well as in Aswan, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and many other marvelous places. And don’t miss Abu Simbel’s temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari.
