History 101

Book Cover

World's worst trip?

Bad choice of destination? Poor accommodations?

No amenities? Unfriendly people?

Our miserable unwilling traveler had, however, just one good thing.

An enormous stomach for the unexpected.

And so it was, he ended up making the most famous trip in human history.

R. Crusoe Travelers

Who is the R. Crusoe traveler?

The intellectually curious couple who, wherever they roam, do it in thoughtful style. She is an armchair archaeologist with a passion for Southeast Asia. A mother and daughter stealing some quality face-time in a new (old) city. A weekend foursome—four gentlemen who want to see how Gleneagles compares with Valderrama and Ballybunion. Twenty-two members of an American family who thought the next reunion should be in the Old Country (visit to Nonna's hometown included). A honeymooning couple who can’t wait for their silver anniversary to see a Galápagos tortoise up close and personal. A well-traveled couple for whom traditional group travel is off-putting. Four women who’ve always wanted to catch the sunset from the top of Uluru.

Most of are tours are comprised of people who want their own private, custom journey. These travelers who join these tours are essentially organized by the participants, ranging from an individual who wants to travel alone, to a couple, a family, or a group of friends. We have itineraries that outline some of the possibilities that can be customized to meet specific requirements.

Some of our travelers prefer group travel and for those people, R. Crusoe & Son offers some hosted journeys. There are just a handful of these journeys but they’re hosted by a noteworthy individual and are chock-full of unique experiences.

A third group of travelers enjoy the luxury and efficiency of our private jet travel.

R. Crusoe also creates Special Interest Group Tours for organizations that travel with their members in a manner more sophisticated than other standard group tours. We’ve worked with patrons of symphony orchestras, non-profit business associations, sports organizations, companies incentivizing their employees, etc., offering these organizations our version of insider travel while taking work off the shoulders of the organization itself.
